Why the departure from Tahoe Mountain Lab? Well, there are several reasons, but I will focus on those that are most important.

Let me tell you a story about “the Lab” (our main Midtown location will always be known as such): when we opened in South Lake Tahoe, coworking was completely new to the region. The original Tahoe Daily Tribune building was built in 1959. It was designed by Hans “Lutz” Aynedter, a German émigré and ski coach who also participated in the design of the Gunbarrel run at Heavenly Ski Resort.

Its successor Tahoe Daily Tribune building was built in the 1970’s, following the demolition of the first building. The original front elevation, facing Harrison Avenue and Lake Tahoe Boulevard, is hand-rendered. It reflects a modern yet practical roofline and chunky, angular columns.

As many of you know we’ve moved forward on purchasing a 12,000 square foot building to house both the Tahoe Daily Tribune staff and Tahoe Mountain Lab.  It’s been a long journey, which started almost two years ago. In early summer of 2014, Scott Fair, local commercial real estate agent and friend took us to the building. At first glance, the building seemed far too massive for us to take on but we could see its amazing potential through the drab 1970’s décor.
