Work Here, Play Here: The Best Coworking Spaces for Visitors to Lake Tahoe

You didn't come to Lake Tahoe to stare at a laptop screen. But if you're one of the millions of workers who can log in from anywhere, there's no rule that says your office view can't be the Sierra Nevada. Lake Tahoe has no real off-season. The mountains are calling year-round. In summer, the lake is impossibly blue, the slopes are world-class in winter, and there is recreation for everyone year-round. While the beauty of this place is what draws most of us to visit or live here, work is also an unavoidable part of our lives, and sometimes that means figuring out where to get that work done in Tahoe.
A little over a decade ago, not a single coworking space existed in the Lake Tahoe region. The coworking industry was still relatively new worldwide, but the demand was there, and growing. In 2014I was lucky enough to help create and open the first coworking space in the Lake Tahoe basin. Around the same time, spaces were opening up in Alpine Meadows and Truckee. Since then, these workspaces have become vibrant professional communities for Lake Tahoe’s workforce.
But they aren’t just for locals. Many of these spaces welcome visiting workers. Whether you're here for a long weekend or an extended stay, here's where to get your work done — so you can fully earn the après-ski, the paddleboard, or the sunset hike waiting for you when the laptop closes.
South Lake Tahoe
Untethered
True to its name, Untethered is built around the idea that work doesn't have to mean a cubicle in an urban office building downtown. This modern, design-forward space offers day passes & day offices, flex desks, private offices, and meeting rooms, all with fast and secure internet and a welcoming atmosphere. Located on the Nevada side of the South Shore area, it's a strong choice for visitors who need to take calls or want a professional setup without sacrificing the Tahoe vibe.

Cowork Tahoe
South Lake Tahoe's original coworking space, Cowork Tahoe set the standard for what a mountain workspace could be. It offers fiber-fast internet, video-calling equipment, and enough coffee, tea, kombucha, and nitro cold brew to power you through even the most meeting-heavy days. Drop-in day passes make it easy for short-term visitors, while monthly memberships are ideal for those staying longer. Their tagline says it best: "The lake is to the left, the slopes are to the right." Hard to argue with that commute.

Cuppa Tahoe
Not everyone needs a full-service coworking membership. Sometimes you just want a great cup of coffee, a couch in a private nook surrounded by books, and reliable Wi-Fi. Cuppa Tahoe delivers all three in a Casual Coworking format: a great coffee and bookstore, plus a separate open desk area and a conference room for when the work gets more formal. Think of it as your neighborhood café, even if your neighborhood is only temporary.
Day Pass Rate: $3/hour, walk-in only, with a 30 minute time limit for the phone booths

Featuring an open floor plan with phone booths for meeting, The Lodge is a cozy spot to get a few hours of work in.

Named a 2025 "Best of North Lake Tahoe & Truckee" winner, Lift Workspace is the largest coworking option on the north shore. Located just minutes from downtown Truckee, it features private offices, dedicated desks, conference rooms, and even a gym; the standout detail is the floor-to-ceiling windows framing views of the Sierra Nevada. It's a genuine workspace, not just a pretty backdrop, and it draws a mix of local entrepreneurs, creatives, and visiting remote teams. If you're staying in Truckee or the north shore and need a professional, reliable setup, Lift is an excellent choice.

Tahoe Mill
Based in Alpine Meadows, and the region’s very first coworking space, Tahoe Mill was built with outdoor-minded remote workers in mind, and it shows. The aesthetic is modern alpine — clean, focused, and comfortable — with flexible desk options and a quiet lounge. But more than the physical space, it's the culture that distinguishes it: a community of people who chose this place deliberately, who take their lunch breaks on trails, and who understand that the best work sometimes happens just outside a ski resort.

The newest addition to the North Tahoe coworking scene, Tahoe Longhouse is located in Carnelian Bay on the north shore just steps from the water. The space offers flexible workstations, dedicated desks, private suites, a team room, and monthly memberships, with day passes and multi-day packs for visitors who don't need a long-term commitment. A Few Tips for the Working Visitor
Book ahead when you can. Day passes can fill up, especially during peak ski season and summer holiday weeks. Many offer online booking, so it's worth reserving your desk before you arrive. For example, Cowork Tahoe & Untethered offer their own custom mobile app for a seamless customer experience.
Think about your location. South Lake Tahoe and Truckee/North Lake are about an hour apart. Choose a workspace that matches where you're staying so you're not burning your limited Tahoe time on the drive. Don’t forget about state lines as well! Mountain Workspace is on the Nevada side of the North Shore in Incline Village, and Untethered can be found just 5 minutes from the NV stateline in Round Hill. The remainder of the coworking spaces in this article are all found on the California side of Tahoe.
Ask about amenities. Most spaces include high-speed internet, but extras vary — some offer printing, conference or call room access, lockers, and even gear storage or the ability to bring your pup to work. If you have specific needs for a client call or presentation, check ahead.
The coworking spaces around the Lake Tahoe area are proof that you no longer have to choose between doing your best work and being in one of the most beautiful places in the country. You can do both, and probably sleep better than you do at home after a day of adventuring.
